Defamation
Defamation occurs when your character is called into question by a publication of a statement in the public domain.
You can be defamed by someone in the workplace, in the media, in a variety of public places.
One thing to know is that you have limited time periods from the date of publication to commence proceedings (please seek specific advice on this point).
The extent of publication is critical to the issue of the range of damages that you may be eligible to recover in a court action.
Damages as an end in itself, may not be your prime motivation in pursuing litigation. You may prefer to receive an apology or a correction published in the media. There are a variety of remedies available to you which we are happy to discuss with you.
Misrepresentation
- You may have been told that something was misrepresented to you, or was misleading and deceptive and that led you to suffer financially.
- You could have been let down by a representation that simply isn’t true, or, it may just be that information that you relied upon was not correct.
- If a person or company has given you advice that is incorrect, you may have an action against that person.
We can advise if you have been involved in a situation that can entitle you to claim not just your financial losses but compensation as well.
Negligence
You may have seen a professional service provider who gave you advice or failed to give you proper advice, that has led to you suffering damage. Please call us for details if you are entitled to make a claim.
