Recovering a debt can be quite simple
It is possible to quickly obtain money owed to you. Let Etheringtons hear your circumstances and advise on the many options available. Prompt advice can often resolve the issue. However, should things not be that simple, there are many other avenues.
If you are owed money by individuals or a company
The options include:
- Legal letter
- Negotiated settlement
- Recovery proceedings in court
For amounts of $60,000 or less, the Local Court of NSW will assist. Legal costs are usually fixed and the process is quite straightforward. Higher amounts involve the District or Supreme Courts.
The outcomes include:
- A court order to allow seizure of funds from a person’s bank account
- A court order to seize property without notice to the person who owes you a debt
- A court order to seize a debtor’s wages from their employer
- Have the person declared bankrupt. In bankruptcy, a trustee is appointed to sell the debtor’s assets and to make payment to you.

If you are in debt
