Flo Mitchell
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Flo Mitchell practices in the Litigation division of Etheringtons. Having originally qualified as a Barrister in Ireland in 1996, Flo was admitted to practice as a solicitor in NSW in 2004 and brings her experience at the Bar to the firm by conducting a substantial amount of court work and general advocacy without the need to instruct Counsel.
Flo is committed to advancing our clients’ best interests in contested cases and is also mindful of keeping legal costs to a minimum in litigation. She is skilled at negotiating and resolving disputes without the need or cost of a contested hearing. Flo has an outgoing disposition and ability to relate to clients on all levels, continually maintaining strong client relationships.
Flo has also obtained Masters Degree in Health Law at the University of Sydney, developing her keen interest in the interface between law and medicine and adding to her repertoire of legal expertise.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Flo has acted in several commercial and contract disputes in the County and the High Courts of Northern Ireland, including conducting criminal defence trials before both Magistrates and Juries. Flo was also involved in a high profile case concerning the rights of autistic children to an education of their choice, where she appeared for the Minister for Education. Since relocating permanently to Australia in 2003, Flo has developed her experience in the District and Supreme Courts in her areas of expertise, as well in the Federal Court of Australia where she has acted in complex Trade Practices disputes. Flo also advises on employment law, appearing at the State and Federal Courts for both employers and employees, including acting since the WorkChoices legislation was introduced.

Flo originally qualified as a Barrister in Northern Ireland in 1996 and in the Republic of Ireland in 2001. Flo was admitted to practice as a solicitor in NSW in 2004.
